Love at first stitch

I've always dreamed to become an illustrator, but I could never find the time to put in training myself to become a professional illustrator. Life eventually took me down a more practical and less creative path. I never fully abandoned my creative inclinations and would occasionally find myself exploring various subjects to varying degrees of depth, i.e. photography, web design, origami, knitting and so on.

Then came year 2021 with pandemic lock-downs, but also with maternity leave for our first born and my first exposure to amigurumi. My husband somehow showed me a picture of an amigurumi, a mascot of the programming language he uses as work, and I decided to give it a try. After some research, I ordered my first set of supplies.

I was hooked, love at first stitch. The first amigurumi turned out a bit scuffed, but I just made another one and never stopped since. Nothing ever felt so right before, I loved crocheting all the wonderful patterns I found online.

After a while, having gained some confidence, I started flirting with the idea of creating my own designs. This is how the Orblets were born. Their simplicity and uniformity were a wonderful starting point. The Cubies series came soon after, adding more character and costume design while trying to keep it simple.
I just love doing this, and I'm also getting to incorporate all sorts of other fun creative processes like photography and illustration.

At the time of writing this, March 2022, the first few members of each family are ready to meet the world, with many more to follow. I hope you'll enjoy making them as much as I did.
